In the request that you submitted, you asked for the following
information:
* How many Looked After Children were in the care of Kingston upon
Thames Borough Council at 1st January 2009?
* Of these how many were placed in: internal residential homes, internal
fostering private fostering independent residential homes
This information is enclosed.
100 Children were Looked After by the local authority at 01.01.09. This
excludes respite care.
internal residential homes: 0
internal fostering: 47 placed in foster care
(this comprises placement provided by the authority and excludes those
provided by friend or relative, and arranged through agency)
(private fostering) Kinship Placements: 15 (We have taken this to mean
placements with friends or relatives only)
independent residential homes: 14 (this includes homes hostels
and residential homes but not residential schools)
The data request is rather ambiguous as Private Fostering Arrangements
mean a child is not Looked After so have interpreted as above.
