18 January 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
Please consider this as a freedom of information request.
I understand that as part of the iBus project you intend to roll
out real-time bus information to a greater number of buses.
'Countdown' information is to be made available at 2000 additional
bus stops over the next few years.
Please could you provide me with a list of bus stop locations that
are to get countdown information?
Yours faithfully,
Tom Betts

Dear Mr Betts
Provision of information in full
Thank you for your email received by Transport for London [TfL] on 27
January. You asked for information about the locations of all the bus
stops at which the next phase of Countdown will be installed.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of
Information Act [FOIA] and I can confirm that TfL does not hold the
information you require.
This is fundamentally because TfL is currently at the tendering stage for
the new Countdown system. The overall plan for this will see functionality
delivered over the period 2010 to 2012, given our budgets and options are
secured. Moreover, as this process is subject to EU tendering laws, we are
unable to release any further information at this stage.
Thank you once again for taking the time to write. If this is not the
information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for
some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me again. If you are not
satisfied with this response, please read the attached help-sheet entitled
‘Your Right to Appeal’.

automatic right to re-use it in a way that would infringe copyright (for
example, by making multiple copies, publishing and issuing copies to the
public). Brief extracts of the material may be reproduced under the fair
dealing provisions of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1998
