A Johnson made this Freedom of Information request to Vale Royal Borough Council
Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Vale Royal Borough Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I would like to know,
a) how many findings of maladministration the local government
ombudsman has made against your council over the last 10 years.
b) how many findings of maladministration your council, either in
full or in part, has refused to accept.
c) how many findings of maladministration your council has accepted
but refused to comply, either in full or in part, with the local
government ombudsman's recommended remedy.
Yours faithfully,
A Johnson (Mrs)

Yours sincerely,

Vale Royal Borough Council reply to some FOI requests but ignore others. Be aware they will try and give you the run around. If you doubt that look at some of their responses to the FOI requests I have submitted.

You don't need to wait for a response because I already know the answer. As with many other councils they don't keep records longer than about 6 years. During that time they have had one finding of maladministration. However, the answer to your question, how many findings of maladministration over the last 10 years is 3. Mine was one of those and I am still waiting for the remedy they promised the Ombudsman in January 1999. Following the submission of my complaint I eventually received the information from Vale Royal Borough Council. Mr Nunn [above] appears to have provided the answer before Vale Royal did!

Have a look at the assurance I was given by the FOI commissioner regarding FOI requests to Vale Royal Borough Council.

"I have considered the explanation for the delay provided by the public authority. Although a clear breach of the Act did occur, I am satisfied that the authority has recognised this and I have no reason to think that other, similar delays will recur in the future."
