Dear Mrs Johnson,
With reference to the above, I can confirm we do hold information in
relation to Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) complaints, although our
records do not go back 10 years.
The council is required to submit an annual report to the LGO which is
available on our website. I recommend that you download the report from
the website
([1]http://www.weymouth.gov.uk/contacts/comp...) as
it contains historical information in addition to the current year.
Please note that, under the terms of the FOIA, before making a request,
you should have a look at the Council's Publication Scheme - (That's the
list of what we publish as a matter of course). It's available either on
the website or as a printed document. You may discover that we already
publish some or all of what you hope to find.
If you would like further information after reading the report, please
contact us and we will try and get it.
Many thanks
David Sinclair

Dear David Sinclair,
I have already looked at your Council's publication scheme and
couldn't find the answer to my questions. Hence my FOI request. As
far as I could ascertain there was no mention of how many findings
of maladministration your council has historically rejected and how
many Ombudsman's recommendations your council has historically
failed to implement.
Yours sincerely,
A Johnson

Dear Mrs Johnson
I'm pleased to say that we do hold information in relation to the Local
Government Ombudsman (LGO) and I can answer most of your questions.
You asked the following questions:
a) How many findings of maladministration the local government
ombudsman has made against your council over the last 10 years
We do not keep records as far back as 10 years. Since 2006,
the LGO has only made one finding of maladministration leading to
injustice against the Council
b) How many findings of maladministration your council, either in full
or in part, has refused to accept.
We have always accepted and complied with the LGO's decisions
c) How many findings of maladministration your council has accepted but
refused to comply, either in full or in part, with the local government
ombudsman's recommended remedy.
Please see above
I hope that this is satisfactory and if there is any other information
that you would like, please do contact us by email -
