Spenser Poultney made this Freedom of Information request to Ministry of Justice
The request was partially successful.
From: Spenser Poultney
6 July 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
The OLSO has referred me to yourselves:
Please send me a list of the public facing IP addresses used by the
OLSO. Please include a FULL list of addresses for any Proxy or
Gateway (or similar) Servers that staff at the OLSO use to access
the Internet.
For each IP address you list please indicate.
1. If the address is used EXCLUSIVELY by OLSO?
2. If the address is shared with other Government Offices, please
list those Offices?
If you cannot answer question 2 please forward this request to the
Office which CAN or, at very least, tell me which Office holds this
information.

All in all not a very useful (or clear) reply. The external links make for more difficult reading than is perhaps necessary.
It did not yield the information I was seeking.
For the non-technical...
I can only reach 2 conclusions
1. It appears that a ZIP file of evidence, sent at the request of the OLSO, on 1st June 2009 was opened by someone other than the OLSO on 2nd June. Not impossible, just a mystery.
2. If the OLSO DID consider the information they requested from me, in carrying out their "investigation" - then they did it in complete isolation. If they DID do this then I'm sure they would have been left with some questions as SOME of the information they NEEDED was via external links. They did not ask me for any of the "missing" facts they needed.
I KNOW that the Avon and Somerset police DID consider the information in detail and on numerous occasions between 04/10/2006 and 30/11/2006. I KNOW that the Law Society looked on 26/02/2007 - oddly enough? the OLSO appears not to have bothered at all. Is it possible that the LSO's "investigations" are nothing more than lip-service?
Ok... it was a long shot perhaps, but we keep hearing how so many Government offices can look at our phone bills and email logs and I thought maybe the FOI would let us see SOMETHING.
If anyone with a slightly technical background wants more information on how I reached these conclusions and on what I was trying to achieve, you may contact me through http://www.lcs-test.co.uk/ It would be good to have someone sanity check my "work".
