John Cross made this Freedom of Information request to Ministry of Justice
The request was refused by Ministry of Justice.
From: John Cross
4 March 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to request information from the Ministry of Justice
under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Please can you provide me with the names of all government
departments. If you do not hold sufficient information to provide
all the names please provide as many as possible.
For the purpose of this request "government department" means the
same as in Section 84 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I am
particularly interested in finding out the names of departments
falling within the following part of the Section 84 definition:
"any other body or authority exercising statutory functions on
behalf of the Crown"
For the purpose of the Act the term “body” includes an
unincorporated association (Section 84).
Yours faithfully,
John Cross

Dear Sir or Madam,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of
Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Ministry of Justice's
handling of my FOI request 'List of Government Departments'.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is
available on the Internet at this address:
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/li...
I feel that more information could have been provided. The
Department must have large amounts of information about the legal
and constitutional status of a large number of public bodies which
could be relevant to my request.
Yours sincerely,
John Cross
