Dear Freedom of Information Team,
Thank you for your acknowledgement (dated 22 July 2008) of receipt
of my Freedom of Information request of the same date. However, 20
working days later, now I still have not received the information I
requested. I trust that you hold the information, and the request
should be straightforward to fulfill.
Section 10(1) of Freedom of Information Act 2000 (c. 36) provides
that "Subject to subsections (2) and (3), a public authority must
comply with section 1(1) promptly and in any event not later than
the twentieth working day following the date of receipt."
Therefore, I am entitled to your response immediately, and now
expect it by Friday 22 August 2008.
Sincerely,
Dr Kaihsu Tai

Dear Freedom of Information Team,
Five more working days later, I am disappointed that I still have
not received an indication from the Home Office about when it
expects to respond to my request. Further, I am disturbed that by
failing to respond within the statutory period, the Home Office
ceases to be in compliance with the law.
Would you please now respond substantively to my request? Thank you
very much.
Sincerely,
Kaihsu Tai

Dear Freedom of Information Team,
By my reckoning, this is the 30th working day since my request made
under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding 'Life in the
United Kingdom handbook and test'. The statutory response period is
20 working days.
Would you please, in this afternoon, indicate at what stage of
processing this request the UK Border Agency is?
I am, of course, happy to help if any further clarification is
needed.
Thank you again for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Kaihsu Tai

Dear Madam or Sir,
It has been more than 60 working days since I first sent the
request, much beyond the statutory time limit of 20 working days.
Now would you please immediately without delay provide the
information I asked for, to wit:
'1 The names of editors and of experts consulted during the
scoping, development, and compilation of the "Life in the UK"
handbook;
2 A summary list of revisions (that is, corrections and updates of
facts and statements contained in the handbook) since the "Life in
the UK" handbook has been in print;
3 The number of "Life in the UK" tests administered each year since
the test programme started;
4 The number of "Life in the UK" tests where the result was "fail"
and that where the result was "pass", by year; and
5 A list of all test questions in test database for the "Life in
the UK" test.'
Further, may I please ask the UK Border Agency to conduct now an
internal review on the Agency's inability to provide me with the
information within the statutory time limit.
Thank you.
