8 January 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
During the last five years how many times has the Local Government
Ombudsman (as a result of investigating a complaint against Chorley
Borough Council) brought to the attention of the council the fact
that a member of Chorley Borough Council staff had misled them,
lied to them or done anything else to hinder their investigation.
If they have what disciplinary action was taken against the
individual(s) concerned by the council.
Yours faithfully,
Trevor R Nunn

Dear Mr Nunn
Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
Our records date back to April 2004. Whilst the Ombudsman's statistics do
not report such circumstances separately, on checking our records there is
no indication that the Ombudsman has brought to the authority's attention
that a member of staff had misled them, lied or hindered an investigation
and therefore no disciplinary action as a result.
I hope the information provided here answers your enquiry. If however,
you are unhappy with the outcome, or the way in which Chorley Council has
handled your request, you may wish to make an appeal. This can be done in
writing to the Freedom of Information Officer, Chorley Council, Civic
Offices, Union Street, Chorley, PR7 1AL, or by e-mail to:
[Chorley Borough Council request email] clearly stating your reasons for dissatisfaction.
If your appeal is either not upheld or you remain dissatisfied with our
decision, you can appeal to the Information Commissioner at: Information
Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9
5AF, or by e-mail to [email address].
