Dear Sir or Madam,

During the last five years how many times has the Local Government
Ombudsman (as a result of investigating a complaint against Luton
Borough Council) brought to the attention of the council the fact
that a member of Luton Borough Council staff had misled them, lied
to them or done anything else to hinder their investigation. If
they have what disciplinary action was taken against the
individual(s) concerned by the council.

First of all may I offer my humble apologies that you have not received
a response to your request. It appears to have been a case where
everyone involved thought someone else had responded with the result
that no-one did. However I have now looked into this and can provide
the answer.

We have no instances over the last 5 years of the LGO bringing to our
attention that a member of our staff had misled them, lied to them or
done anything else to hinder their investigation.

I hope this answers your enquiry but if you are unhappy with our
response, please write to me, Rosemary Stipta, Corporate Information
Officer at Town Hall, Luton, Beds, LU1 2BQ, so that I can arrange
further investigation. If you remain unhappy after the conclusion of
the Council's internal complaints procedure, you may apply to the
