Dear Sir or Madam,

During the last five years how many times has the Local Government
Ombudsman (as a result of investigating a complaint against
Hambleton District Council) brought to the attention of the council
the fact that a member of Hambleton District Council staff had
misled them, lied to them or done anything else to hinder their
investigation. If
they have what disciplinary action was taken against the
individual(s) concerned by the council.

Dear Mr Nunn
Thank you for your email. Having looked up your request, I can tell you that we did receive your email dated 13 July, but have no record of your correspondence from January 2009. I am sorry that we had not replied before now. Having investigated your request I can tell you that the Ombudsman has not brought to the attention of the council 'the fact that a member of Hambleton District Council staff had misled them, lied to them or done anything else to hinder their investigation' during the last five years. A report is produced annually for Hambleton's Standards Committee every year about Ombudsman's complaints and these can be found on our website at:

NB- the Ombudsman's report goes to the Standards Committee in July each year, reports since 2001/02 are available on the website and give summaries of all cases about Hambleton brought to their attention.
