Dear Sir or Madam,
During the last five years how many times has the Local Government
Ombudsman (as a result of investigating a complaint against Barnet
Borough Council) brought to the attention of the council the fact
that a member of Barnet Borough Council staff had misled them, lied
to them or done anything else to hinder their investigation. If
they have what disciplinary action was taken against the
individual(s) concerned by the council.
Yours faithfully,
Trevor R Nunn

Dear Mr Nunn,
Internal Review under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
I have conducted the internal review under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. Please accept our apologies for not
completing this within 20 working days from the request for a
review, as recommended by the Information Commissioner.
You initially requested the information by email on 7 January 2009.
You should have received a response promptly and within 20 working
days from 7 January 2009. In fact no response was sent by the
council. For this we also apologise.
To the best of our knowledge the Local Government Ombudsman (as a
result of investigating a complaint against the London Borough of
Barnet) has never brought to the attention of the council the fact
that a member of the council's staff had misled them, lied to them
or done anything else to hinder their investigation during the
period 7 January 2004 to date.
Also, for your information, the council’s publication scheme has a
link to the reports and minutes of all Council meetings and reports
to council which would include reports from the Monitoring Officer,
in which such activities would be recorded. The publication scheme
can be accessed via: www.barnet.gov.uk/publication-scheme.
If you are unhappy with any part of this response you have a right
to appeal to the Information Commissioner at: The Information
Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow,
Cheshire, SK9 5AF (telephone: 08456 30 60 60 or 01625 54 57 45;
website: www.ico.gov.uk).
Please contact me if you require clarification on any of the above.
Yours sincerely,
