Dear Stuart

I am responding to your request for grant payments made by Central
Government to the Local Government Association (LGA) and the LGA family
over the last five years (2005/06-2009/10. Taking each of your questions
in turn:

(1) The LGA is funded by subscriptions from its members (local
authorities). However, the LGA family receive funding from Central
Government via the Revenue Support Grant mechanism ( i.e. the RSG
top-slice).

(2) Grant payments made to the LGA family over the last five years are
listed in the table below (amounts listed are in millions (£).

(3) The table below also include a breakdown of payments made to the
Leadership Centre for Local Government (LCLG) over the last five years.

We are aware there are other individual sums we have allocated from the
Department (Government) to these bodies but the cost of complying with the
request exceeds the appropriate limit.
