Dear Birmingham City Council,
Could you please provide me with the following information:
a) In the last two years how many residential care placements for
adults with learning disabilities have been made at a cost of
greater than £1750 per week in county (i.e. within the boundaries
of Birmingham City Council. Please provide information for each 6
month segment ie Jan - June 2008, July-Dec 2008, Jan-June 2009 and
July-Dec 2009
b) In the last two years how many residential care placements for
adults with learning disabilities have been made at a cost of
greater than £1750 per week out of county (ie outside the
boundaries of Birmingham City Council. Please provide information
for each 6 month segments ie Jan - June 2008, July-Dec 2008,
Jan-June 2009 and July-Dec 2009
c) Provide a list of providers with whom the placements at a) above
were made. Please provide information for each 6 month segment ie
Jan - June 2008, July-Dec 2008, Jan-June 2009 and July-Dec 2009
d) Provide a list of providers with whom the placements at b) above
were made. Please provide information for each 6 month segment ie
Jan - June 2008, July-Dec 2008, Jan-June 2009 and July-Dec 2009
e) In the last two years how many residential care learning
disability placement funded by Birmingham City Council have had
breakdowns (defined as instances where the placement has not been
deemed suitable for the service user and a new placement has been
sought - regardless of whether the service user has actually been
moved). Please provide information for each 6 month segment ie Jan
- June 2008, July-Dec 2008, Jan-June 2009 and July-Dec 2009
f) For the residential learning disability placements funded by
Birmingham City Council where there have been breakdowns in the
last two years(defined as instances where the placement has not
been deemed suitable for the service user and a new placement has
been sought - regardless of whether the service user has actually
been moved), please provide a list of the providers of the
residential care services who were providing the care at the time
the breakdown occurred. Please provide information for each 6
months ie Jan - June 2008, July-Dec 2008, Jan-June 2009 and
July-Dec 2009. Against each provider please record the number of
placements that have broken down.
g) For the residential learning disability placements funded by
Birmingham City Council where a service user has been moved from
one service to another in the last two years please provide the
following information for each 6 month segment ie Jan - June 2008,
July-Dec 2008, Jan-June 2009 and July-Dec 2009:
i) the total number of instances in which a service user has been
moved from the residential care service offered by one provider to
the residential care service offered by another provider in the
last two years
ii) the total number of instances in which the placement with the
new provider at i) above has is at lower overall cost to the
previous provider
iii) the number of instances that the placement with the new
provider has broken down within two years (defined as instances
where the placement has not been deemed suitable for the service
user and a new placement has been sought - regardless of whether
the service user has actually been moved)
iv) Please list for each of these break-downs A) the time with the
new provider before the break down occurred B) the reason for the
breakdown
