Dear Yvonne Peart,
I do not believe you do not hold the information as I have a report
that state that the Met tested out all the non lethal weapons for
all police force and in deed at one stage they were holding up the
next report because they were taking so long,
I all so no that police officer were not allowed to be used for
testing because of legal implication , yet in other reports the
America were complaining that you teated to much,so who did you use
to test your weapons on,
so which is it, you don't have the reports, so cant answer, or wont
answer because you have not been truthful with the public and you
fear the back lash when the truth comes out,
the words no body can ever put in the same sentence are open and
honest and the metropolitan police for fear of been labelled a
lire,
I know you have these weapons and it wont be long before you have
to tell us the truth,

Yours sincerely,

Mary Hughes

Dear Ms Hughes.

Thank you for your enquiry.

I confirm that the MPA do not carry out the testing of non-lethal weapons on humans and do not hold any medical reports of the same.

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) did take part in a national taser pilot, along with several other forces, to test whether using tasers in non-firearms situations was appropriate.

The MPS, along with all other forces, was already licenced by the Home Office to use Taser in firearms situations. It should be noted that this was not testing whether tasers could be used on humans - that is the responsibility of the manufacturer, and the Home Office decides, based on research, whether tools such as taser can be used in the UK, before they are rolled out to forces.

The MPS was slow to take up taser, because of the MPA's reluctance to endorse both the use in firearms situations and their involvement in the pilot. Even now, despite the pilot's success, use of taser in non-firearms situations is very tightly controlled in London.

You may wish to refer your request to the MPS. http://www.met.police.uk/information/gen...

MPA committees mpa report dated 28 Feb 02 (10b)
The named report above states on page 2 that the MPS are undertaking the testing of less lethal weapons the weapons named are electrical and chemical devices - distation devices such as laser and noise

if you would like an open and truthful police force and not a service that dose not know what it is doing leave an annotations hear and write to your MP
