Dear Mr. Braithwaite

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request dated 10 November 2009 in which you asked for information regarding Land registry Mapping.

We did not have a computer mapping system (CMS) in place until 2000 with the initial load dated 01/04/1995.
In addition Land Registry (LR) survey updates are only incorporated into Ordnance Survey (OS) data when processed as PRISM surveys and LR surveyors did not start processing PRISM surveys in this area until the surveyors in Tunbridge Wells adopted it. The first of these did not complete their training on it until May 2007 so there would not have been any LR survey data adopted by OS in the area until after this date. Prior to this date all surveys in the area would have been manual and the detail obtained would have been solely for internal use and would not have been passed to OS.

All surveys raised on the CMS are recorded in the form of office page graphics (OPGs) and interrogation of the length of Island Road in Sturry reveals just 3 OPGs denoting surveys.
These are dated 8/6/2006, 4/12/2006 and 5/3/2007 and all were manual and as such the OS would not have adopted the mapping amendments made.

PRISM stands for Portable Revision Integrated Survey Module. This allows a surveyor to revise map data directly, the revision being sent electronically to OS Head Office.
