William Thackeray made this Freedom of Information request to General Medical Council
The request was partially successful.
From: William Thackeray
6 April 2010
Dear General Medical Council,
I refer to the papers released by the GMC as a result of
Information Tribunal case EA/2009/0063.
These indicate that Lady McNair, a senior member of CCHR, contacted
Chris Brightmore to inform him that his status (or former status)
as a Commissioner of CCHR had been raised at the Fitness to
Practise Panel from which he had already been recused.
My questions are:
1) Please release all information relating to Lady McNair's role at
or involvement with the GMC, if such involvement exists.
2) As the transcript of the hearing had not been published, and
Lady McNair was not present at the hearing, she can only have known
what transpired from a person who was present at the hearing or
from a person within the GMC who had access to information
concerning events at the hearing. Does the GMC have any information
concerning who informed Lady McNair of the events at the FTP Panel,
and why? If so, please release this information.
Thank you for your assistance with this matter.
Yours faithfully,
William Thackeray
