Ian Davison made this Freedom of Information request to Her Majesty’s Treasury
Waiting for an internal review by Her Majesty’s Treasury of their handling of this request.
From: Ian Davison
1 March 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what progress has been made
in the Government's discussions with the Icelandic government on
the status of British depositors with Kaupthing, Singer and
Friedlander (Isle of Man).
You will note that the above is a repeat of a question already
asked by an MP. The answer given by Mr Pearson provided no
information and failed to answer the question asked.
Thousands of savers without access to THEIR savings with KSF IOM
are waiting for some form of honourable action by the UK
Government. It is no good Gordon Brown publicly stating that
British savers have been protected, and stimulating other countries
to do likewise, when UK dependencies (hit by considerable failings
by the UK Government, FSA etc etc) have caused misery to so many,
and NOT honoured bank deposits.
Yours faithfully,
Ian Davison

Dear Sir or Madam,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of
Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Her Majesty's
Treasury's handling of my FOI request 'KSF IOM Savers'.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is
available on the Internet at this address:

Innocent depositors are involved here, and they deserve to know
exactly what has been done to protect their interests. The Prime
Minister has stated that all jurisdictions should vouchsafe savers,
and evidence that this is being required of the Isle of Man is
required.
Yours sincerely,
Ian Davison

Dear responses, FOI,
Further to your acknowledgement dated 21 April concerning my
request for an internal review, I have heard nothing.
As the stipulated time allowed has long since passed I assume that
you have upheld my review request and that a comprehensive response
is now being drafted. Please confirm and advise when I can expect
the response.
Yours sincerely,
Ian Davison

Mr Davison
I am sorry not to have acknowledged this earlier. While we were reviewing the handling of your request dated 1 March, you wrote to us on the 21 May asking us to review the handling of a follow-up request (dated 14 April). We have looked at both together, which I hope is helpful rather than not, and we expect to provide a full response soon.
I understand you have also asked us to review a third request you made, about how the FSCS rules have been applied in connection with KSF depositors. The scope of that request is sufficiently distinct as to justify dealing with it separately.

Mr Davison
I have checked and we are not aware of any new requests outstanding. I would be grateful if you would re-send any you think we may have missed.
Perhaps your reference to 'reviews and requests' simply means the 2 outstanding reviews and the original requests on which they are based. I am sorry that we have not written finally to you on that. My understanding is that these are unlikely to result in additional disclosures, but I recognise we must observe due process.
I hope there are some positives for you in wider developments meanwhile.
