June 2007 Flooding

A Freedom of Information request to Environment Agency by Diane Charlton

The request was successful.

Diane Charlton

20 June 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

I would be most gratful if you could provide detailed information
concerning flooding which took place to the rear of Wentworth
Street, Derbyshire, DE7 5TF, on the 26th of June 2007 resulting in
15 properties being flooded.

Sketchy EA information states that the River Erewash did not breach
its banks to cause the flooding, but flooding was the result of a
minor watercourse overtopping and the water having no where to go
but through the properties situated adjacent to this minor
watercourse.

I would also be grateful if you could clarify if it was actually
the culvert located at the rear of these properties which
overtopped to cause the actual flooding.

Yours faithfully,

Diane Charlton
