Mr B Gerrish (Account suspended) made this Freedom of Information request to Kent County Council

The request was successful.

From: Mr B Gerrish (Account suspended)

24 July 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/pa...

Thank you for confirming in another requesters FOI that Paul Carter
Conservative Leader of KCC , gave Jenny Whittle ex-member of staff
a personal reference as President of Faversham & Mid Kent
Conservative Association.

KCC's response seem to be contradictory in the (above link) as to
when Jenny Whittle's employment was terminated from KCC, please
clarify if it was either on 27th or 26th January 2009 and why this
was not
terminated on the 16th January when she resigned, and confirm if she
continued to be paid by Kent county Council as an Officer?

Yours faithfully,

Mr B Gerrish

Mrs Barden (Account suspended) left an annotation ( 9 August 2009)

It seems to go from bad to worse , a socialworker/ CEO who writes for the Tories in a Tory run council, and on the make for a bigger position when he gets the shove.

And an ex-member of staff who worked for the Tory leader who has given her a personal (I bet)reference, who also happens to be the president of the tory association, which enabled her to get the safest tory seat in the country.

Wonder what Cameron thinks? must be more dust under that carpet than in a dustcart

Dear Mr Gerrish

Thank you for your request for information.

I can confirm that Ms Whittle was selected as candidate on the evening of
15th January and handed in her resignation immediately on arriving at work
on the morning of 16th January, before her candidature was made
public, and in accordance with the Local Government Act. However, due
to leave owing to her, she was actually paid up to and including 26th
January, which is why the 26th is classed as the formal
contract termination date as opposed to the day she resigned.

If you are unhappy with this response, and believe KCC has not complied
with legislation, please ask for a review by following our complaints
process; details can be found at this link
[1]http://www.kent.gov.uk/council-and-democ...
on our website. Please quote reference FOI/09/830.

If you still remain dissatisfied following an internal review, you can
appeal to the Information Commissioner, who oversees compliance with the
Freedom of Information Act 2000. Details of what you need to do, should
you wish to pursue this course of action, are available from the
Information Commissioner's website
