Mr Hedley made this Freedom of Information request to South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council
The request was refused by South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council.
From: Mr Hedley
15 March 2010
Dear South Tyneside Borough Council,
Under the Freedom of Information Act, could you please provide me
with a full hierarchical organisation chart, for your IT department
and/or division? This should be from the most senior IT
officer/exec position, down to the first line.
Please note: I'm not requesting individual names, but just job
titles and the amount of jobs in each position.
Yours faithfully,
Mr Hedley

Dear South Tyneside Borough Council,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of
Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of South Tyneside
Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'IT Organisational
Structure'.
I don't believe that this FOI request should be refused, as I have
made separate requests to Durham County Council, Sunderland City
Council, and Newcastle City Council, all of which provided this
information in full.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is
available on the Internet at this address:

Yours faithfully,
Mr Hedley

Dear Mr Hedley
We have now reconsidered our decision regarding your Freedom of Information request below. Please see attached a copy of the Council's ICT structure.
Can I stress that the Council has outsourced its ICT function to BT South Tyneside and as such only has one member of staff, the ICT Client Manger, responsible for ICT development. We also one Information Security Officer to oversee our security issues. We are therefore not in the same position as Newcastle or any of the other Councils to which you referred to below. As a private company BT South Tyneside are not obliged to disclose information under FOI requests, however, on this occasion we have agreed to provide the structure chart.
If you have are still dissatisfied with this response then I suggest you write to the Information Commissioner to ask for an independent review.
