Dear Sir or Madam,

Please provide the following information for the past financial
year:

* how much money has been spent by Tower Hamlets Borough Council
for purchasing of licences for Commercial off-the-shelf desktop
software (including but not limited to word processors, spreadsheet
software, "Office"-type packages, PDF-generation software, email
and calendar software)?

* how much money has been spent by Tower Hamlets Borough Council
for purchasing of desktop operating systems (e.g. Mac OS, Microsoft
Windows and Linux-based operating systems) - if operating system
licenses have come bundled with purchased hardware, please list
number of licenses acquired.

* how much money has been spent by Tower Hamlets Borough Council
for purchasing of server operating systems (e.g. Mac OS, Microsoft
Windows, Linux-based operating systems)

* how much money has been spent by Tower Hamlets Borough Council
for purchasing of external IT support (External, as in not provided
by the Borough's own IT staff)?

If possible, please list the amounts above for Tower Hamlets
Borough Council as a whole as well as the amounts spent in schools
for the same licenses.

Please present the amounts summarized and categorised appropriately
according to your available data (e.g. per vendor and/or per
software category, if available)

If budget data for the current financial year is available, please
provide this as well as data for actual spend in the previous
years.

How much money has been spent by Tower Hamlets Borough Council for

Desktop Software £379,417

Microsoft Enterprise Agreement

How much money has been spent by Tower Hamlets Borough Council for
purchasing of desktop operating systems (e.g. Mac OS, Microsoft Windows
and Linux-based operating systems) - if operating system licenses have
come bundled with purchased hardware, please list number of licenses
acquired.

Desktop Operating Systems 1,035 licences purchased
as a bundle with the hardware

Dell Leased Equipment

How much money has been spent by Tower Hamlets Borough Council for
purchasing of server operating systems (e.g. Mac OS, Microsoft Windows,
Linux-based operating systems).

Server Operating Systems £ 27,426

Microsoft Enterprise Agreement

How much money has been spent by Tower Hamlets Borough Council for
purchasing of external IT support (External, as in not provided by the
Borough's own IT staff)?

Purchase of External IT Support £ 72,000

If possible, please list the amounts above for Tower Hamlets Borough
Council as a whole as well as the amounts spent in schools for the same
licenses.

All schools are only required to report the LA in terms of Consistent
Financial Reporting which means that we can only tell you how much schools
spend against code E20 ICT Learning Resources which could be New PC's,
Licences or just printer cartridges. More detailed information is held at
each individual school.

Please present the amounts summarized and categorised appropriately
according to your available data (e.g. per vendor and/or per software
category, if available)

If budget data for the current financial year is available, please provide
this as well as data for actual spend in the previous years.

2007/8 details will not be available for about 3 weeks
