Is There Any Plans For a Cinema in West Bromwich?

Dear Sandwell Borough Council,

Once upon a time there used to a dilapidated old cinema where there
now sits a 99p store it wasn’t much but it was something to do as I
used to go there as a very small child. I was just wondering is
there going to be any plans to a cinema something like Imax
(wishful thinking) in the area, as the closest cinema are in
Dudley, Birmingham, and Wolverhampton. I believe with all the
redevelopment in the area, having a cinema would provide jobs, and
bring the community out and business to the area. We need to try
and bring one of the franchise cinema companies to invest in the
area. Doing a survey you would see a response from the community in
Sandwell crying out for a cinema in the area. Finding investment
shouldn’t be a problem doing a little number crunching you can see
its good business for the investors and local business as a whole
in the area.

This enquiry is just a query and I would just like to have an idea
if there was plans or a possibility to having a cinema in the area.
Thank you for taking your time and reading my query and I wish to
hear you response and views soon.

Thank you again

Yours faithfully,

MR RAHMAN (in West Bromwich)

Mr Rahman

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately there are no current proposals for a new cinema in West
Bromwich. The provision of such a facility would need to be funded by the
private sector and I am unaware of any current expressions of interest in
sites within the town for such a use.

I agree with you that a cinema would potentially be a very positive
contribution to the regeneration of West Bromwich. Were the Council to
receive any planning application for such a facility, full public
consultation would of course take place.

Again thank you for taking the time to contact me.
