Dear Sir or Madam,
I found in an article in the Liverpool Echo from May 2001 a
reference to an investigation by Liverpool City Council into
accusations against Sefton Park Allotment Society.
Quoted from the article:
"COMPLAINTS that a Liverpool allotment society ran a regime of
bullying and harassment have been upheld by a council
investigation.
Sefton Park allotments society comes under scrutiny this week in a
report by Liverpool council officers."
This article is also available online by using this link:

I would like to receive a copy of the report of the investigation
and any subsequent reports on investigations into accusations
against Sefton Park Allotment Society.
Yours faithfully,
Martin Dunschen

Dear Mr Dunschen
I refer to your request under the Freedom of Information Act for a copy of
the report into the investigation and any subsequent reports on
investigations into accusations against Sefton Park Allotment Society.
I attach a copy of the report you make reference to. I would add that in
the attached report further reference has been made to an Internal Audit
report AU4/2158/C212 which formed the basis of the attached report I have
contacted our internal audit department to check if they can provide a
copy of their report they have advised me that for internal audit reports
they keep them for 2 years after the initial investigation took place
after which time they are destroyed, as this report was completed in 2001
we no longer have a copy of that report.
I trust this information satisfies your enquiry.

Dear Ms Glanville
Thank you very much for your response including the copy of the
report I requested, and for your effort to retrieve the internal
audit report the provided report is based on.
Would you be able to advise me why internal audit reports are
destroyed after two years, and if this in accordance with general
advice or practice and is sanctioned by the Information
Commissioner?
Yours sincerely,
Martin Dunschen

Dear Mr Dunschen
I refer to your email of 7 January 2009 when you asked for clarification
of:
`Would you be able to advise me why internal audit reports are destroyed after two years, and if this in accordance with general advice or practice and is sanctioned by the Information Commissioner?'
To clarify the position documents are managed and when required destroyed
in line with our Retention policy. The policy provides the timescales for
documents to be retained. Timescales for retention where decided upon
either by legal requirement or when no legal limit applies by adopting the
timescales considered to be best practice by the British Archive. There
is no requirement for our retention policy to be sanctioned by the
Information Commissioner.
I trust this clarifies the situation for you.
