From: Marcus Fergusson
18 February 2010
Dear Metropolitan Police Authority,
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act specifically
in relation to the Office of the National Coordinator of Terrorist
Investigations.
Where possible, it would be helpful to have this information broken
down either per annum or on a monthly basis:
1. The amount of encrypted UK internet traffic that has been
extracted, decrypted and analysed since the Office’s creation.
2. The number of individuals that have been investigated.
3. The number of people that have been prosecuted.
4. The amount spent per annum since the Office’s creation
extracting, decrypting and analysing encrypted internet traffic.
5. Any predictions that have been made about the growth of
encryption over the next ten years.
6. Any predictions made about the resulting increase in costs for
the Office over the next ten years.
7. Statistics relating to the scale of proxy server use in the UK.
Please let me know if I can help to clarify this request.
I look forward to hearing from you promptly, as required by the
legislation, and in any case within 20 working days.
Yours faithfully,
Marcus Fergusson
