Re: TfL099098

Dear Michael

Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 15
October. I apologise for the slight delay in my response.

You have requested the dates London Underground and London Overground
stations are due to have an Electronic Service Update Board installed in
ticket halls.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of
Information Act and I can confirm that TfL does hold the information you
require.

London Underground (LU) has 257 stations due to have the information
boards installed between now and May 2010.

However, due to ongoing refurbishment work, we cannot provide exact dates
for when this will be achieved at each station.

Currently, Electronic Service Update boards are not being installed on the
London Overground (LO) network. LO are investigating the installation of
these types of boards at its most used stations.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would
like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely

Gareth Long
Customer Relations Officer

Dear Mr Long

Thanks for your reply however I think you have assumed incorrectly
that I required exact installation dates for each station

As I appreciate exact dates are difficult to obtain for various
reasons but in an attempt to clarify my request I am asking for the
scheduled installation dates that exist under the relevant
improvement programme

Yours sincerely,

Michael Ereira

Dear Michael

Thank you for your further email.

I have spoken further to my colleagues in London Underground who have advised me that we don't have any details, just the final date of May 2010.

I'm sorry I cannot assist you further.

Dear Enquire (TfL),

Thanks for your reply to the above however I wish to request an
internal review following this.

You have stated that in a previous reply you had the information I
requested on a database. I never requested exact dates on my
original request and you have assumed this. I then sent a reply
further defining my request and it would appear your second reply
contradicted the first.

As a underground passenger I am aware of the on going engineering
works but given that TFL publish track and station closures for up
to six months in advance I feel that there should be no difficulty
in providing this information as station improvements are often
carried out at the same time

Yours sincerely,

Michael Ereira

Our ref: IRV-091-0910

Dear Mr Ereira

Thank you for your email of 09 February 2010, in which you requested an
internal review of your Freedom of Information request.

I can confirm that an internal review has been conducted by an internal
review panel (‘the Panel’) in accordance with the attached procedure.

Your initial request of 15 October 2009 asked for a spreadsheet containing dates when the Underground and Overground stations on the tube network are due to have an Electronic Service Update Board installed in their ticket hall. In response TfL stated that exact installation dates are not held.  You queried this response on 23 November and clarified your request by stating that you required scheduled installation dates that exist under the relevant improvement programme. TfL responded on 11 December 2009 and stated that the only information held is the final date of May 2010.

The Panel considered the correspondence associated with your request and the correspondence exchanged since you requested a review and noted that LU does in fact hold a spreadsheet outlining scheduled installation dates. The Panel agreed that in failing to provide this information to you once you clarified your request, Tfl failed to comply with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act. On behalf of TfL please accept my apologies. Those involved in the request will be reminded of their responsibilities.

Please find attached a spreadsheet which lists those stations due to have
service boards installed along with the expected month in which they are
due to be installed. Please be aware that the project is reliant upon
sites being cleared by both LUL and other parties before installations can
take place, therefore we can not give a definitive list of dates for
installations. Please also be aware that these dates are indicative and
may change at very short notice.

I hope this information. If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of this
internal review, you can refer the matter to the independent authority
responsible for enforcing the Freedom of Information Act at the following
address.

Dear Mr Ereira

Thank you for your email.

I have spoken to the Project Manager who has confirmed that Hounslow West
should be getting an Electronic Service Update Board by the end of May
2010 but this is dependent on Heritage and Planning approvals.
Installation of Electronic Service Update Boards for Ruislip and Uxbridge
was refused by the planning office. There are no plans for South Kenton.

If you have any further questions I will forward them to the Project
Manager for comment.

Kind regards
