Dear National Grid plc,

Expenditure on the six electricity alliances is reported as being
in excess of £3bn over five years.

To help me evaluate whether National Grid have awarded the
contracts to achieve best value for money, please provide the
following documents and information for each of the contracts
awarded to each of the six alliances to date:

1 - Copies of the invitation to tender documents.

2 - The evaluation criteria used by National Grid against which
submissions were marked, by individual alliance.

3 - Copies of the bid submission documents (the responses to the
invitations to tender received by National Grid from the companies
that bid for the work) for all of the successful and unsuccessful
bidders for all of the work packages which have been awarded to
date, including those for all management, design and construction
elements.

4 - Copies of the National Grid evaluation scores for each of the
alliance submissions received as identified in (3) above.

Please also provide the following information on current
performance for each alliance:

5 - the total value of work carried out to date

6 - the total number of projects undertaken (started and finished)
from initial concept through to the completion of construction

7 - the amount of fees paid to each of the alliances

8 - the total amount of bonus or other incentive payment made under
the contract for each of the alliances
