Dear Ms MacDonald,
I understand that you have spoken with my colleague who has advised the
Department needs to extend further the time needed to respond to your
request. Please accept my apologies for the delay. The Department
strives to ensure that requests are dealt with in a timely fashion in line
with the Act. However, from time to time, requests do take longer than
normal, due to the necessity to ensure that any public interest arguments
are thoroughly considered, and all factors are taken into account before a
decision is reached. I can assure you that this is currently under
consideration and we are hoping to respond to you in full no later than 1
May 2009.
Yours sincerely
Des Crehan
