Income Tax paid and the National Debt

Andrew B made this Freedom of Information request to Her Majesty’s Treasury

The request was partially successful.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I recently sent a FOI Request to the HMRC for information on the
following:

This was the reply i got,

HMRC does have the net annual Income Tax paid in the United Kingdom
from the fiscal year 1997/1998 to the fiscal year 2007/2008, as
shown below.

Fiscal Year
Total Net Receipts (£ million)

1997/1998 £76,838
1998/1999 £86,507
1999/2000 £93,910
2000/2001 £105,177
2001/2002 £107,994
2002/2003 £109,507
2003/2004 £113,968
2004/2005 £122,920
2005/2006 £130,480
2006/2007 £143,327
2007/2008 £147,323

Unfortunately HMRC does not hold information regarding how the
money has been spent, surplus amounts, interest earned, or
reduction to the National Debt.

HM Treasury holds details of the National Accounts and might be
able to supply the rest of the information you requested.

Could you please provide a summary of the surplus from income tax
paid for the years 1997-2008 (in a similar format to the above info
from HMRC) along with details of how much of the national debt has
been paid off, or if it is nil, how much of the interest on the
national debt has been paid off, and what the annual interest is on
the national debt.

The reason i want this information is to determine whether or not
the people of the Britain are in eternal servitude (wage slavery)
i.e the total taxes collected only being enough to ever pay off a
portion of the interest of the national debt, meaning the debt can
never be paid in full.

Also if this is the case why doesn't the government simply take
control of the creation of money back from the private bankers and
issue a tax free currency to its subjects until the national debt
is paid off.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew B
