Scottish Government

2 July 2009

Dear Sheila Struthers

The reference relates to an Expert Group appointed by Scottish Ministers
which met between October 2008 and March 2009.  It has now been wound
up.  Its members were:

•        Ken Macdonald, Assistant Commissioner for Scotland,
Information Commissioner's Office

•        Duncan Macniven, Registrar General for Scotland

•        Charles Raab, Professor Emeritus and Honorary Fellow,
University of Edinburgh

•        Alan Kirkwood, Chair of Socitm (Society of IT Managers)
Scotland

•        Rosemary Jay, Partner, Pinsent Masons LLP

•        Jerry Fishenden, Lead Technology Advisor, Microsoft UK

•        Gus Hosein, Senior Fellow, Privacy International.

Gareth Crossman from Liberty accepted a new job in an unrelated field and
therefore withdrew from the group before its first meeting.

The work of the Expert Group was announced last September:
[1]http://www.scotland.gov.uk/News/Releases... The Expert
Group developed Identity Management and Privacy draft Principles which
were submitted to Ministers and are due to go to public consultation
straight after summer recess.

Best wishes
