Dear Gateshead Borough Council,

What, if any, methodologies are you currently using to:

1) identify
2) quantify (i.e. expressed in numbers)
3) remove

waste before making budget cuts to services?

Methodologies in use to reduce waste in the public sector include
lean, Six Sigma, business process re-engineering(BPR), systems
thinking, total quality management (TQM) and theory of constraints
(TOC).

Yours faithfully,

Brian Peters

In accordance with the Act we have decided to grant access to the

We have developed a transformation programme which includes a Business

council's functions with the aim of identifying, quantifying and removing
waste. This approach is based on proven improvement methodologies,
including Lean and Six Sigma, and makes use, specifically, of tools within
