Dear Greater London Authority,
i) Who are the incumbent suppliers of the "basic connectivity
(Layer 2)" for your Wide Area Network Services? Are any contracts
due for renewal in the next six months?
ii) How many sites are there on your network and how many require
high speed (greater than 1Gig) connections?
iii) Do you build and operate your own network or do you use a
Systems Integrator or Outsourcing company to do that? If so, please
specify who and when the contract expires.
iv) How many Data Centres do you use and are they on council
premises or third party premises? Please specify post codes for DC
locations. If third party please specify the company and when the
contract expires.
v) Do you operate your own Data Centres or do you use a
Systems Integrator or Outsourcing company for that? If so, please
specify who and when the contract expires.
vi) Do you use "Co-location" Services ? If yes who is the supplier
and when do the contracts need to be renewed?
Yours faithfully,
Joe Hellard

Dear Mr Hellard
Thank you for your recent email to the Greater London Authority (GLA) seeking information about our ICT implementation.
In answer to your questions please note the following:
i) Fujitsu are the suppliers for the GLA and are not due renewal.
ii) There are two sites on the GLA network and both require high speed connections.
iii) The GLA has an external network that is run by Fujitsu. The contract is overseen by Transport for London and is ongoing.
iv) The GLA uses one data centre - on GLA premises - SE1 2AA.
v) The GLA runs its own data centre.
vi) The GLA does not use co-location services.
Yours sincerely

Dear Mayor of London,
Thank you for your reply.
I am slightly confused. "there are two sites on the GLA" network.
And "Fujitsu run and external network for GLA".
What sites are in the external network?
Yours sincerely,

Dear Mr Hellard
Thank you for your follow up email to the Mayor of London about the Greater London Authority's (GLA) ICT implementation. I have been asked to reply to you on his behalf.
I am sorry about any confusion in my earlier reply. Please note that the GLA is based at City Hall, its main network (within the confines of City Hall) is run by the GLA IT Unit.
However, it is connected by a high speed link to Transport for London's data centre (the other site on our network). From there, the GLA access some of TFL's Business Systems (e.g. Finance and Procurement).
The high speed link to TFL is run by Fujitsu on behalf of TFL.
I hope that this now clears up any misunderstanding.
Yours sincerely
