Dear Luton Borough Council,
i) Who are the incumbent suppliers of the "basic connectivity

due for renewal in the next six months?
ii) How many sites are there on your network and how many require
high speed (greater than 1Gig) connections?
iii) Do you build and operate your own network or do you use a
Systems Integrator or Outsourcing company to do that? If so, please
specify who and when the contract expires.
iv) How many Data Centres do you use and are they on council
premises or third party premises? Please specify post codes for DC
locations. If third party please specify the company and when the
contract expires.
v) Do you operate your own Data Centres or do you use a
Systems Integrator or Outsourcing company for that? If so, please
specify who and when the contract expires.
vi) Do you use "Co-location" Services ? If yes who is the supplier
and when do the contracts need to be renewed?
Yours faithfully,
Joe Hellard

Dear Mr Hellard,
Please accept my immediate apologies for our unacceptable delay in
responding to your February request for information. Our intention is to
always reply promptly to any communication whether it is made under this
legislation or otherwise. Like any public authority, we receive a
substantial number of enquiries every day and on rare occasions, we do
not reply as quickly as we should.
Exchanges with my colleague will have revealed to you that a combination
of events conspired to cause the delay and I have discussed these with
my colleagues concerned to ensure we learn from this and try to avoid
any further lapse.
I am advised that our full response was sent to you yesterday but for
the avoidance of any doubt, I repeat our response below.
i) Who are the incumbent suppliers of the "basic connectivity
(Layer 2)" for your Wide Area Network Services? Are any contracts
due for renewal in the next six months?
answer: They are part of consortium and no contracts due for
renewal within six months.
ii) How many sites are there on your network and how many require
high speed (greater than 1Gig) connections?
answer: 2 main sites, both with 1Gig capacity coming on stream.
iii) Do you build and operate your own network or do you use a
Systems Integrator or Outsourcing company to do that? If so, please
specify who and when the contract expires.
answer: we manage our own
iv) How many Data Centres do you use and are they on council
premises or third party premises? Please specify post codes for DC
locations. If third party please specify the company and when the
contract expires.
answer: we host our own 2 data centres on our own premises in
Luton.
v) Do you operate your own Data Centres or do you use a
Systems Integrator or Outsourcing company for that? If so, please
specify who and when the contract expires.
answer: we host our own data centres.
vi) Do you use "Co-location" Services ? If yes who is the supplier
and when do the contracts need to be renewed?
answer: No.
Once again, please accept our apologies
yours sincerely,

Dear Heappey, Steve,
Thanks for the reply. I know how business pressures can impact
processes.
Can I ask for some clarification?
Who are the consortium who privide your network? I had been told
ntl: provide your connectivity-is that not correct?
Can you be more specific about the location of your Data Centres?
Yours sincerely,
Joe Hellard
