i) Who are the incumbent suppliers of the "basic connectivity" for
your Wide Area Network Services? Are any contracts due for renewal
in the next six months?
ii) How many sites on your network require high speed (greater than
1Gig) connections?
iii) Do you integrate (or manage) your own network or do you use a
Systems Integrator or Outsourcing company for your network or ICT
services? If so, please specify who and when the contract expires.
iv) How many Data Centres do you use and are they on council
premises or third party premises? If third party please specify the
company and when the contract expires.
v) Do you use "Co-location" Services ? If yes who is the supplier
and when do the contracts need to be renewed?

I refer to your request seeking information under the Freedom of
Information Act regarding ICT implementation.
Please see below for your questions and our responses.
i) Who are the incumbent suppliers of the "basic connectivity" for your
Wide Area Network Services? Are any contracts due for renewal in the next
six months?
Siemens Enterprise Ltd are the suppliers of the "basic connectivity" for
our Wide Area Network Services.
There are no contracts due for renewal in the next six months.
ii) How many sites on your network require high speed (greater than 1Gig)
connections?
There are no sites on our network that require high speed connections.
iii) Do you integrate (or manage) your own network or do you use a Systems
Integrator or Outsourcing company for your network or ICT services? If so,
please specify who and when the contract expires.
The contract is provided by Siemens Enterprises Ltd as they provide a
managed service and the contract expires in August 2014.
iv) How many Data Centres do you use and are they on council premises or
third party premises? If third party please specify the company and when
the contract expires.
We have one Data Centre which is on Council premises.
No third party is involved with the Data Centre
v) Do you use "Co-location" Services? If yes who is the supplier and when
do the contracts need to be renewed?
The answer is no, we do not use "Co-location" services.

There are 167 sites on the WAN
Who looks after you DR activity? I would like to discuss the single DC
position with them.
Rob Parkhouse, Head of Service is accountable for the IT Disaster Recovery
Plan. If Devon County Council have any requirements for services they
would be advertised in the appropriate Trade Journals.
