16 February 2009
Dear Jiten,
Thank you for your enquiry of 4th February. I am sorry for the delay in
my response. Your request for information falls to be dealt with under
the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Section 1(3) of the Freedom of Information Act provides that a public
authority need not comply with a request for information unless any
further information reasonably required to identify and locate the
information is supplied. I am unclear about the exact scope of the
information in which you are interested. To ensure that we provide you
with the right information, please could you clarify your request, so
that we can process your request.
You have requested statistical information on the total number of
applications approved under the Tier One/HSMP WP progammes during the
last 2 years (2007-2008). Our immigration system has undergone
considerable changes in 2008 and I am currently unclear which of the
categories you are interested. For example, are you interested in Tier 1
(General) only or do you also require information on the Highly Skilled
Migrant Programme, a category that has now closed? Are you interested in
Tier 2, for example, or do you require statistical information on the
work permit arrangements and categories which have now closed?
Please see the UK Border Agency website link for more information on the
changes to our immigration system and the time period when the changes
took place.

look forward to hearing from you shortly. However, please note that if I
do not receive appropriate clarification of your request within three
months from the date of this letter, I will consider this request to be
closed.
Yours sincerely,
