Dear Sir or Madam,
How many GP's who have retired but continued to practice, since

Dear Mr Kumar
Our performance teams in Norfolk and Suffolk who deal with the PCT
Performers Lists can let us know the number of GPs who have retired from
general practice since 2004 and have remained on the performers list as
locums. If you could confirm that this is the information required we
will arrange this.
Kind regards.

Dear Mrs Fuke ,
Thank you for your reply. I am specifically enquiring as to the
number of GP's, who when submitting a letter stating their
intention to retire but return to practice, since 2004, have the
PCT removed from the performers list and they have been asked to
reapply.
Also the number of GP's, who when submitting a letter stating their
intention to retire but return to practice, since 2004, have the
PCT simply amended their entry on the performers list and not had
to reapply.
I hope this clarifies my request. Your assistance would be much
appreciated.
Yours sincerely,
Milan Kumar

Dear Mr Kumar
We are now in a position to reply to your Freedom of Information
request.
Asking for information from 2004 is slightly difficult because Waveney
PCT's performers list was managed by Suffolk Support Services and Great
Yarmouth's list was managed by Eastern Support Services, and even
following the reconfiguration in October 2006 each support service has
continued to manage the list on a locality basis. However your request
for information was forwarded to both Support Services and these are
their responses.
Suffolk Support Services have not removed anyone who has retired (unless
they confirmed that they would no longer work at all). There have been
50 retirements where the GP has asked to remain on the performer list to
continue providing NHS services. NB: However this response covers the
whole of Suffolk not just the Waveney area.
Eastern Support Services: Confirmed that staff would not remove any GP
from the list who has retired (unless they confirmed that they would no
longer work at all). There have been some 13 GPs who have retired as
partners/providers but have continued to remain on the list as locum
GPs.
Kind regards.
