Dear Barnacle Bill,

Thank you for your request made under the Freedom of Information Act.
However, I was hoping you may be able to clarify a few matters before we
are able to begin processing your request.

1. You ask about allowance provision for "travel from Home to Duty". Do
you mean for regular daily travel between home and work, perhaps in
response to a change in their normal place of work? Or are you referring
to instances when an officer has a meeting or other responsibility which
is nearer to their home than their place of work and therefore claims for
the journey from home to the meeting, and then on to their normal place of
work. Clearly in the latter case, this would be more cost effective than
allowing the officer to claim travel costs from their place of work and
back again.

2. When you mention "since the last Local Government Reorganisation" are
you referring to a reorganisation which was made nationally, or just
within the local authority? At Allerdale Borough Council, for instance,
we had a Fit For Purpose reorganisation in 2006.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Andrew Gilbert
