Home Secretary's can't wait assertion regarding "Identity" Cards

David Hansen made this Freedom of Information request to Home Office

The request was successful.

From: David Hansen

16 February 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

I refer to the Home Secretary's assertion in
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7... that "I believe
there is a demand, now, for cards - and as I go round the country I
regularly have people coming up to me and saying they don't want to
wait that long."

In the three months between that assertion being made and the 7th
of February 2009 how many people have come up to the Home Secretary
and told her that they can't wait to have an "Identity" Card?

It my be that the figure is not recorded, but given the assertion
that this happens regularly you should be able to provide at least
a rough figure. A refusal to provide any figure will be deemed to
be an admission that the figure is zero.

Please note that "replies" which involve attachments in proprietary
file formats are not acceptable. A reply which is not in plain text
format will be deemed to be a refusal to answer.

Yours faithfully,

David Hansen

Dear HQ Enquiries,

I note that you have not offered any evidence that people have come
up to the Home Secretary and told her that they can't wait to have
an "Identity" Card?.

In view of your failure to offer any evidence I conclude that I am
right and nobody has approached the Home Secretary and told her
that they can't wait to have one.

Yours sincerely,

David Hansen
