FOI CASE
REF: 708 - 31/03/2009 - C Murton [[email address]

I refer to your FOI request received on 28 March 2009

A. The number of persons in the local authority of compulsory
school age who are, or claimed to be, electively home educated and
who
have been either suspected or found to be involved in child abuse,
neglect, forced marriage, sexual exploitation or domestic
servitude.

B. How many (if any) Serious Case Reviews or Joint Area Reviews
have reported with respect to home educated children in the LA.

There have been no s47 (Children Act) investigations in relation to
electively home educating families in Halton. The question does not
specify
a period of time and our answer is based on the period of time the
current
Manager has worked at Halton BC i.e. 4 yrs and not on a review of
records
prior to this.

There have been no Serious Case Reviews where the children are
elective home
educated, in the same period.
