Help for Disabled People (DVLA)

D. Kelly made this Freedom of Information request to Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency

The request was successful.

Dear Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, 29/01/10

I already have my tax disc paid for in full as I am disabled.
I was wondering, are us disabled people entitled to help with costs
for car Insurance and MOT's?
I look forward to your reply.

Yours faithfully,

D. Kelly.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your request for information under the Freedom of
Information Act. Your request for information falls within the
Agency’s day to day business and your request is therefore treated
as ‘Business as Usual’.

The Government takes a broad approach to supporting disabled people,
offering support payments to help cover additional living costs and this
gives recipients flexibility to choose how they can best use the money
to suit their specific circumstances. Furthermore, support payments are
inflation index linked and it has been confirmed that such payments will
raise in 2010 above the measure of inflation.

Finally, I should explain that DVLA is concerned with the
administration of vehicle excise duty. Matters relating to possible
insurance concessions should be directed to the Insurance Industry.

I hope this helps to clarify the position.

Regards,

DVLA
