Dear Gwen Evans, thank you for your prompt response. I am unclear
as to what the first set of figures refer to, and what the columns
represent, I would be grateful if you could just give the total
figure as requested.Unless your preamble was to say that you are
taking the "fith"

Yours sincerely,Alexander Hamilton

Peter Jones left an annotation (31 August 2009)

Scottish Natural Heritage's response appears to contain the information you requested, just the text is slightly misaligned.

In the first set of data there are four columns: Year; Total number of hedgehogs culled; Number culled on North Uist; Number culled on Benbecula; Number killed on South Uist.

So in 2003 there were 66 hedgehogs culled in total. Of these (all) 66 were culled on North Uist, 0 culled on Benbecula and 0 culled on South Uist.

Dear Alexander,

Please accept my apologies for my previous e-mail being unclear: the format of
the e-mail had obviously changed to become unintelligible. Please find the same
information in the attached excel spreadsheet.

The total number of animals culled is 695.

Since 2007, the policy was changed so that all hedgehogs captured would be
handed over to Uist Hedgehog Rescue. To date this number is 664.

Yours sincerely,

Gwen Evans
