Thank you for your e-mail received 04 March 2009 requesting information about which primary and secondary schools in the borough (all types of council owned or run schools: community, foundation, and voluntary aided schools) has halal food options in their menus, if any.
Janet Ryan in the Children's Services Department will arrange for the information to be provided to you no later than 01/04/09.
Whilst it is the Council's policy to provide information wherever possible, I need to advise you that there are a number of exemptions under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Your request for information about Hal al food options has now been
considered and the information is below;
I would like to know which primary and secondary schools in your borough
(all types of council owned or run schools: community, foundation, and
voluntary aided schools) has Hal al food options in their menus, if any.
Catering Services is the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham In House
Provider for School Meals and Hospitality. There are 50 Primary and 9
Secondary schools we provide for all the schools apart from Barking Abbey
who operate their own service.
Schools have a SLA with Catering Services and within that provision we are
able to offer a Hal al option at the request of the school.
I must advise you that this information is protected under copyright and
you must not therefore make multiple copies or distribute it. You will be
in breach of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 if you do so, and
could be prosecuted.
If you need any more information, or if I can be of any further help,

If you are not satisfied with the way that I have dealt with your request

We have discussions with schools regarding Halal options and we endeavour
to provide advice and support
