Habitats Regulations Ashdown Forest

Post Referendum Campaign made this Freedom of Information request to Natural England

The request was successful.

From: Post Referendum Campaign

26 January 2010

Dear Natural England,

Mid Sussex District Council are proposing substantial development
between 2006 and 2026 under their LDF that is likely to impact on
Ashdown Forest, which is protected as a SPA/SAC under European
legislation as well as a SSSI. Since 2006 around 600 new homes have
been built in Mid Sussex within 7.5km of the Ashdown Forest and in
their emerging Core Strategy they indicate that this number will
increase to more than 1200 houses due to current "commitments", all
this prior to an Appropriate Assessment.

With this in view, please supply the following information
concerning the implementation of the Habitats Directive/Habitat
Regulations relating to Ashdown Forest:

1) Could you please advise dates of all meetings you have held with
Mid Sussex District Council concerning their need to comply with
the Habitats Regulations and/or the needs of their LDF to include
an Appropriate Assessment.
2) Could you please provide electronic copies of the Minutes of
these meetings.
3) Could you please advise, also, dates of any meetings you have
held with East Sussex County Council, Wealden Council, Conservators
of Ashdown Forest and the High Weald AONB unit on this or related
matters.

Yours faithfully,

Post Referendum Campaign
