A Freedom of Information request to Department for Children, Schools and Families by Roger Machin
The request was successful.

Dear Sir or Madam,
Graham Badman asserts in his review of Home Education that "the
number of children known to children’s social care
in some local authorities is disproportionately high relative to
the size of the home educating population."
Please reveal the statistics Graham Badman used to make that
assertion.
Yours faithfully,
Roger Machin

Goodness me, is the DCSF immune from it's own regulations, not even an acknowledgement, time for an internal review i think.

excuse me but as there is no annex attached to this FOI , do I assume that the DCSF think that the review came with an annex that details how the statistics were arrived at?
IT DID NOT
The annex that is mentioned is now being circulated amongst home educators but this FOI did nothing to achieve the release of the annex.

Dear Ms Thompson,
To which annex do you refer?

Dear Ms Thompson,
Thank you for releasing these figures. They are, to put it mildly,
a poor basis on which to mount the claims made by Graham Badman.
These statistics are now being examined by members of our community
in the light of Mr Badman's other dubious 'evidential' conclusions.
I appreciate your co-operation in this matter and trust that Mr
Badman himself will not suffer undue stress as a result. I
understand that he is currently being protected from FOIs that will
undermine his sense of well-being.
Yours faithfully,
Roger Machin
