Please could you provide details of the gender breakdown of
teachers in Scotland, both as a whole, and in relation to recent
staff turnover. Please provide this seperately in relation to
Nursary, Primary and Secondary education, or in such other
categorisations as are suitable.

These data, including the specific breakdowns you requested are freely
available from the publication 'Teachers in Scotland' published annually
by the Scottish Government.
Please find the most recent version ('Teachers in Scotland 2007') on the
website: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/...
Table 1.2 gives gender breakdown of teachers in Scotland in all sectors
for 1991-2007.
For gender breakdowns for primary, secondary and special schools please
refer to the table 2.1, 3.1 and 4.1 respectively.
We do not have the gender split for pre-school teachers.
You might also be interested in 'Teachers in Scotland 2008', which is
due to be published on the 24th of March.
