GB Euro coins

Andrew Burgess made this Freedom of Information request to Royal Mint

The request was successful.

From: Andrew Burgess

20 July 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you today to enquire about the likely success of a
future request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, to
enquire whether you hold the information that I desire.

I would like to enquire further about Great Britain's progress
towards adopting the Euro single currency and the object of my
request is as follows:

I would like to know if the Royal Mint has produced any Euro coins
and if so, I would like to know what quantities of coin and of
which denomination have been produced, when these were produced,
and of what cost.

If one part of this request can be answered sooner than others,
please send that information first followed by any subsequent data.
If you need any clarification of this request I hope you will not
hesitate to contact me on the email address provided. Furthermore,
if requests of a similar nature to this one above have already been
asked, could you please include your responses to those requests.

I would be grateful if you could confirm in writing that you have
received this request, and I look forward to hearing from you
within the 20-working day statutory time period.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Burgess

Dear Mr Burgess

I am writing in reply to your Freedom of Information request of 20 July.

To answer the questions in your third paragraph, I can tell you the Royal Mint has not produced any euro coins for the United Kingdom.

As for your final question, no requests similar to your own have been received by the Royal Mint in the last 12 months.

Yours sincerely

Joseph Payne
Assistant Curator
