FOI Request re Common purpose 'charity' courses

Mr Smith made this Freedom of Information request to Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council

The request was successful.

From: Mr Smith

8 January 2010

To whom it may concern,

Please accept the following FOI request for information relating to
personnel numbers & expenditure within Bolton Metropolitan Council,
specifically those personnel in the Housing, Housing Benefits &
Housing Tribunal Services Departments.

I formally request that you return details of expenditure,
departmental locality of attendee/s & course/s attended by staff
from aforementioned departments within BMC from any of the
following Common Purpose 'charity' & any affiliated 'charity'
entity training courses dating from 1997 (or earliest relevant
date) to present:

"Matrix" Course
"Focus" Course
"Profile" Course
"20:20" Course
"Masterclass Series" Courses
"Quest" Course
"About Time" Course

As I understand, Common Purpose & its associated 'charity'
organisations within the UK are receiving vast amounts of public
money to train quote: "future leaders for the post-democratic era"
I don't understand what that means exactly, but would very much
like to know how much this costs the British tax payer & from what
ranks these 'future leaders' are being drawn. I also understand
that as a 'charity', Common Purpose & its affiliated entities are
required to operate in the light of day, but are extremely
reluctant to do so. I would be grateful if you would shed light on
this murky 'charity' network.

Thank you. I await your reply.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Smith
