From: W Cooper
27 February 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
To the knowledge of the Home Office, in which of the British Crown
dependencies (the Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey and the Isle of
Man): (a) are same-sex civil partnerships currently able to be
conducted under law, or are in the process of being introduced? (b)
have such unions actually been conducted? (c) are such unions, if
originally conducted in the UK, recognised, and/or associated
rights upheld, by the laws of the territories in question?
Also, has the Home Office or any other department made
representations or suggestions to the territories in question with
regard to this issue?
This enquiry was originally directed to the FCO alongside a similar
request regarding the British overseas territories. I was advised
that: 'With the part of your enquiry which relates to Guernsey,
Jersey and Isle of Man. You will need to contact the Home Office.'
Yours faithfully,
Mr Cooper
