Fixed CCTV Camera Locations

The request was refused by Camden Borough Council.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I would be grateful if you would provide me with a full list of fixed CCTV camera locations in the London Borough of Camden. I am referring to cameras in public places that Camden Council operate, or have access to.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Roberts

Dear Judy Gough,

I cannot find a list of CCTV camera locations on your website, only a map. The CCTV map only shows the 10 CCTV camera locations closest to the postcode entered. I can see that the map does not even include all the locations. I requested the locations of all CCTV cameras in Camden which you operate or have access to (so that would include TfL cameras that you can access), which you have not provided me with even thought I have waited a month.

The only list of CCTV cameras I can find on your website is here http://www.camden.gov.uk/ccm/content/tra... but it's very old and only contains a very small number of CCTV cameras in Camden.

Before I request an internal review and make a complaint to the Information Commissioner, I will give you one last chance to provide me with the information I requested.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Roberts

Dear Judy Gough,

Your response to my freedom of information request is now overdue. By law, you should have responded by now (or at the very least an acknowledgement would have been appreciated).

Please respond to my request ASAP.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Roberts

Dear Sir or Madam,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Camden Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'Fixed CCTV Camera Locations'.

I cannot find a list of CCTV camera locations on the Camden Council website, only a map. The CCTV map only shows the 10 CCTV camera locations closest to the postcode entered. I can see that the map does not even
include all the CCTV locations. I requested a full list of the locations of ALL CCTV cameras in Camden which you operate or have access to, but you have not provided me with the information I requested and it's not available on your website (even though you have now stated twice that the information is published on your website).

The only list of CCTV cameras that I can actually find on your website is here http://www.camden.gov.uk/ccm/content/tra... but it's very old and only contains a very small number of CCTV cameras in Camden.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:

Yours sincerely,

Mr Roberts

This appeal decision seems very strange. The request was for a "full list of fixed CCTV camera locations in the London Borough of Camden"

The website they reference does not provide any way of accessing this information - since although individual camera locations can be found by entering a postcode there is no way to be sure that all within the borough boundaries - as requested - have been located without trying every postcode in the borough.

It might well be worth resubmitting the request and making this point, if the info is still required.
This information must be stored in a back-end database that is queried by the website, so the reticence in releasing the info is very odd indeed.

I made an identical request, which upon Internal Review, was successful.
