Fines for failing to keep dogs on leads

Mr. Figg made this Freedom of Information request to Isle of Wight Council

The request was successful.

From: Mr. Figg

22 May 2010

Dear Isle of Wight Council,

The council have recently removed signs, stating that there was a
requirement for dogs to be kept on leads, from lamp posts along the
beach walk from Sandown to Shanklin. These were removed following a
complaint regarding them and the council subsequently stating they
had been erected in error.

The signs stated "Keep dogs on leads maximum penalty £100"

I would like full details of any fines issued, or prosecution
brought, by the council for owners failing to keep dogs on leads in
this area during the last five years.

Yours faithfully,

Mr. Figg
