Dear Blackpool Borough Council,
My child’s school has been identified as a national challenge
school and major changes have begun to take place.
I would like to know how these are funded. Particularly:
How much money has been allocated to Collegiate High School,
Blackpool, for the National Challenge and how long it is supposed
to last
How much it costs for the new head teacher to travel to and stay in
Blackpool for work purposes, and which budget funds this. Please
provide a total for expenses claimed to date and the period these
are for.
Additionally, I would like to know:
How much money has been claimed for the 14-19 education initiative
for Blackpool and any specific plans made so far for allocation
How many people are working with Progress House, in an advisory
capacity, on these initiatives (NC and 14-19). I would like the
data broken down to indicate how many of these have first hand
experience of teaching, at any level, in any school in the country.
Yours faithfully,
M Smith

Dear M/- Smith,
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - INFORMATION REQUEST
We have completed our search for the information you requested on
01/01/2010 re the 14-19 team.
We have 3 people in our 14-19 team who support the 14-19 initiatives and 1
dedicated national challenge adviser. These 4 people have each had years
of first hand teaching experience in schools across the country but mostly
in the North West. 2 have been heads of department and 2 have been head
teachers. All their experience is in secondary schools.
We also manage 2 National Challenge Advisers who are not based in Progress
House but support and challenge our national challenge schools. Both of
these advisers have first hand teaching experience and head teacher
experience.
I am refusing to answer the questions around finance as I shall be
publishing all this information and more in a public report in August
2010.

Dear MIT(Educ),
To be honest, that doesn't quite cut it. It's clear the LA is
trying to close collegiate, i've since heard about a number of
redundancies and all the while there's Ms Cordeaux; she refuses to
speak directly with the children, instead spending money that
should be for their education on hotels and trains. According to my
child, behaviour is atrocious and nobody knows what's going on.
I can't believe my taxes are paying for this woman to drive a
previously fantastic school into the ground
Yours sincerely,
m smith
